PETER JOHNSON OBITUARY
Peter Romaine Johnson was born May 9, 1944, in Benton Harbor to Peter and Bobbie (Griffin) Johnson. Pete, as he was known to everyone, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at Rose Arbor Hospice Center, Kalamazoo, Mich.

On Nov. 30, 1963, Pete was united in marriage with Sandra Williams.

Pete took over a heating and cooling business his grandfather started in Coloma and moved it to Hartford in 1970 and renamed it Johnson's Heating and Air Conditioning. In his younger days, when it came time for the opening deer season, Pete would head up north. He also liked to go fishing, however, his most precious times were spent with his family – especially his grandchildren. If you couldn't find Pete at home in the morning or at night, just look to the Panel Room and you could probably find him.

Peter is survived by his wife, Sandra; two children: Wendy Spangler of Lawrence and Pete (Bobbi) Jr. of Hartford; five grandchildren: Andrew Spangler, Elliott Spangler, Adrianne Johnson, Rebecca Johnson and Dalton Graham. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley (Pete) Mengel of Kalamazoo; and a sister-in-law, Candace Johnson of Kalamazoo.

As per Pete's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration of life will be at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford with Pastor Lonnie Truelove officiating. After the service, please join the family for coffee and cake at the Panel Room Restaurant.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Hospice of Southwest Michigan or to the Ronald McDonald House.

The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at www.calvin-leonardfh.com.

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
