West Riding Lunatic Asylum Patient

Taken in the late 1860's or early 1870's at the West Riding Lunatic Asylum located in West Yorkshire England in a city called Wakefield. It is unknown what this patient might have suffered from at the time. Up through the 1900s people suffering from mental conditions were often restrained using apparatus such as this in asylums both in European and USA..
