Mable Carree Fike McCann
I have an old studio photograph of Mable Carree FIKE who was born 14 Feb 1889. The photograph was taken when she was just 3 months and 3 weeks old. Her parents are identified as Leo. FIKE and Mary RODGERS FIKE. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mable and her family:
Mable or Mabel Alice or Carree FIKE was b. 13 Feb 1889 in Geneseo, NY to parents Leo G. FIKE (1862-1905) and Mary Jane ROGERS (1862-1955). She was one of 9 children born to this couple including Maggie Lillian; Helen Cornelia “Nellie”; Frank Herbert; Mabel Alice; Minnie Louise; Elizabeth Frances; Earl Herbert; Helen Meral; and Gladys Mary FIKE, all born between 1885 and 1904.
Mabel married Arthur R. MCCANN (1885-1957) and they had a daughter, Audrey Rose MCCANN (1908-1997). Mabel died 26 Nov 1982 in St. Petersburg, FL.
I am hoping to return the photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

I think this photo is an example of what a typical woman from the Church of the Brethren looked, and other religions as well. Both of my Johnson grandparents were members of the Brethren Church, which most of their relatives were as well. They populated Pennsylvania and Virginia in the 1800's and earlier. I'll post a photo of the earliest Johnson relative I'll be able to find. Thanks again for this wonderful platform to share family photos. I appreciate it.

1/2 Tb. molasses
1/2 tsp. soda
1 cup melted butter
2/3 cup nut meats
2 3/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Shape into a long loaf. Chill in refrigerator. Slice thin and bake. (No degrees or time given). Judge from other cookie recipes, I guess. These are really good. A favorite my mom made. She would put the name of who gave her a recipe on the hand written recipe. This one says Mae Fike (Izetta Mae (Miles) Fike.
