Great photo of a California couple tailgating at the beach. The pickup truck and the sedan fit the time period perfectly. Of course, so do their high-waist shorts. Notice the little BBQ they have going too! Photo taken circa 1950.
A photo of a photographer taking picture of couple at beach - in a goat cart!
A photo of Beverly Washington & fiance Aldo Scoffone on the beach in Santa Cruz, California. About 1948. That's my Mom,Joyce Benning Kroetch Vandever, in the background, lying on the beach and shading her eyes. Those were the days - when you could sunbathe without worrying about the consequences!

I know this isn't nice - but I swear it looks like uncle Fester from the Addam's family!! I do NOT know who this person is but would absolutely LOVE to know! This photo is one of many found in a series of old early 1900's Badger Gem family scrapbooks that were donated anonymously by a family in Green Valley Arizona. These photos seem to be of select areas including Southern California, Chico, Coronado San Diego, Long Beach Pasadena, Yellowstone National Park, Colorado, and the Continental Divide.

Vernon Houston Miller with friends at the Masonic Home of Virginia boys at Buckroe Beach, Virginia. The Masonic Home of Virginia was established to care for the children of deceased Masons whose mothers were still living. The resident boys and girls were given the opportunity to travel to the beach for day excursions in the summer. Pictured here in their assorted, probably hand-me-down swimwear, are some of the teen boys in the summer of 1935. From left to right: Herbert A. "Roughneck" Conner, Vernon Houston "Johnnie" or "Whitey" Miller (my uncle), Winston Foster, Kermit "Roy" Saint Clair, and Clay Culp. Growing up in the orphanage, it was not uncommon for the boys and girls to have nicknames.

Three bathing suit models at the beach in 1924. They were in Washington's Spring Fashion Show. Looks like what we might wear today to go shopping - maybe with a bit less cloth involved! The models are (left to right) Dorothy Young, Eleanor Gianniny, and Betty Burgess.

This is a family group of Charles Benson WAMBOLDT and his wife Mary Rebecca BEACH's family. There are a couple of x marks on the photo and 4 people are numbered 1-4. I am not sure what the crosses and numbers signify. Number 1 is over the head of the woman standing to the far left and wearing a dark dress. She is not identified. Number 2 is on the white skirt of the young lady seated 2nd from the left. She is unidentified. Number 3 is over the head of the man standing 2nd from the right. He is unidentified. Number 4 is on the skirt of Ada Mae FRENCH (nee WAMBOLDT 1883-1958) standing on the right directly in front of her husband James Henry FRENCH (1878-1948) and holding their daughter Beulah (1905-1937 who married George HARDY). Ada is the 2nd eldest daughter of Mary & Charles WAMBOLDT. Georgina BEACH (nee MUNROE 1823-1909), Mary Rebecca's mother, is seated in the chair. Her son Archibald BEACH (1861-1925) is wearing a light-colored suit and standing to the left of her chair with his hand upon it. Charles Benson WAMBOLDT (1858-1914) is behind his mother-in-law Georgina just to the right of her with his hand on her chair back. The next man to the right of him with a white moustache is Francis Henry WAMBOLDT (1835-1911), his father. The woman in front of Francis looks just like other pictures of his wife, Nancy DOYLE (1837-1913), but she looks too young - perhaps she is Nancy D. WAMBOLDT (1883-1922) his youngest child. Mary Rebecca BEACH (nee WAMBOLDT 1856-1942) is just to the right of Francis and standing behind an unidentified adolescent boy. Adelaide Melissa BRIGGS (nee WAMBOLDT 1897-1978)is the young girl seated in the front with flowers in her lap. If anyone can identify the others in the photo, or if I have misidentified some, please contact me at BlindAlleyGene@gmail.com or through Ancient Faces. Thank you.

Female somewhere about age 20-30. Photo purchased at an antique store in Cannon Beach, Oregon on October 17, 2009. Name of person, Mary Chatterton, is on front. Photo by Redell & Tweedy of Poughkeepsie, New York. The back of the photo mentions her cousin Gilbert Van Wagner. I located both of them in the same household on the 1880 census. Mary was born 1858 in New York. I haven't found any direct descendants (perhaps a name change due to marriage), but have located some descendants of her cousin Gilbert on Ancestry.com, and hoping to hear from them soon.
The three Tasker children with friends at the beach in England before they emigrated to the U.S. Probably in Southampton UK. (The other boy is Nick, but we don't know his last name.)
