Hazel 'Elsie' Daum, Illinois
Hazel 'Elsie' Daum, Illinois
Hazel 'Elsie' Daum, Elgin Illinois circa 1900: I've just become very curious about an old black and white postcard-photo I purchased at a second hand shop. It's of a very striking woman in a long white dress. She seems to be holding a diploma. The photographer mark says:
"West Photo-Coliseum Bldg-Elgin, ILL"
On the back is handwritten: 'Hazel Daum' and 'Elsie'.
I'd date it somewhere between 1880 and 1910... based on the fashion.
Anyone with any info?

Grover, Howard, Mary & Ruth Kimmerle, Michigan c1893
Grover, Howard, Mary & Ruth Kimmerle, the children of Charles and Ella (Dunning) Kimmerle of Michigan: This photo from my family's collection is already "tagged" with names. The boys in the top row are Grover (b.1884) and Howard (b.1885) Kimmerle. Their sisters in the front are Mary (b.1887) and Ruth (b. 1890) Kimmerle.
It was taken sometime between 1892 and 1895 I'm guessing.

Mystery Italian Family Postcard #3
This is one of a set of 3 postcards (which appear to be written in Italian?) that feature the same Husband, wife and daughter over a span of time in the early 1900's. The progression seems to be 1-Happy Family, 2-Husband gets called to war, 3-Wife on her own with baby daughter!
Can anyone translate the Italian for me? It might provide clues. Be sure to check out all 3 shots.

This is a photo taken sometime between 1927 and 1934 of the Dunning and Hain families of Cass County, Michigan. I've identified (with the help of my dad and grandfather) who I could. If you recognize anyone else, you're probably really old... but I'd appreciate hearing from you!

Having shared the photo (charcoal drawing) of my ancestor David Hain born in 1805 in NC, I thought it would be appropriate to share this unique photo of David's brother Jacob Hain. This photo was probably taken just a couple years before he died at the ripe old age of 99! I hope a descendant of Jacob's line will be able to comment further on this unique pioneer. Is this David Hain?
Is this David Hain?
This is a mystery tintype or daguerreotype that my grandfather had with other Hain photos. This was unlabeled/unidentified.

Based on the charcoal drawing of David Hain (posted in my gallery) I've tried to identify this unidentified tintype (or daguerreotype?) as David with his wife and daughter Mary Jane. Wife Margaret died in 1845 when Mary Jane was 7 years old, so it's possible. The little girl might be about 6 or 7. The hair is styled in the same manner on the gentleman as it is on the David Hain charcoal drawing. Any opinions? Style of dress is hard for me to date. 1800's obviously.

Hain and Kimmerle Family Group Shot
This is a fun shot with the names hand-written on the side, so folks are identified, if you know them! I do know that Bill Hain (my great grandfather) is the gentleman squatting with the white hat in the lower right. I also know that Charlie Kimmerle is the gentleman sitting on the ground with the dark vest showing only his right side of his face, because of a birthmark/growth on the other side (so I've been told). Ed King (of the famous Wm King & Son Organ Manufacturers) is the white bearded gentleman standing in full suit behind Bill Hain.

Pauline Smith with Grandchildren. Who are they?
Well the photo states that this is "Pauline Smith with 4 of her 9 Grandchildren"... taken on her "85th Anniversary"
I have a few of this woman with her family and they were in a box of my Hain family photos. I have no record of a Pauline Smith. She's likely to be from Michigan or Indiana. Anyone have any further clues? Contact me.
