Ballenger Stone

These are my Grandparents, John Felix Ballenger b. 1894 in Alabama and Creasy Nellie Lee (Cordell) Ballenger b. 1894 in Alabama. Felix Ballenger's parents: Dock Rice Ballenger and Mary Ann (Parker) Ballenger of Arkedelphia, Alabama. Dock Ballenger's parents: William Whitten Ballenger and Lomantha (Shepherd) Ballenger of Arkedelphia, Alabama. William's parents:John T. Ballenger and Hulda (Whitten) Ballenger of Blount Co, Alabama. John T, Ballenger came to Alabama from Tennessee and was a pioneer of Blount Co., Alabama, and settled the wilderness area around the Cane Creek area. John T. Ballenger's parents: John Edward "Ned" Ballenger b. abt. 1780 in VA and Jane McHaffie from VA. Although I have extensive data on the McHaffies, I can get no further back than "Ned" on my Ballenger ancestors. Can anyone help?

The lady on your left is my Grandmother Sarah Lucenda Victoria (McClendon) Stone b. 1887-88 in AL. married Ed Stone abt. 1904. He was born 1886-87 in Georgia. He came to AL from around Stone Mtn, GA in the 1890s along with his mother, Nancy Rebecca (Wells) Stone and his brothers Tom Stone, Zeke Stone and sisters Effie Stone. He had another sister Dera Stone. I'm not sure she was born at this time. Nancy Rebecca was said to have remarried after the early death of her husband, George Edward Stone before moving to AL. The gravesite of George Edward Stone, my Great Grandfather is said to be somewhere on the east side of Stone Mtn. GA. If anyone has any connection to this family who can provide any information or family photos, I would be very happy to exchange info and photos.

This man was called Uncle John Victory by my father, Grover Stone. I believe he must be the elderly man seated. My Grandmother, Sarah Lucenda "Lou" Victoria (McClendon) Stone, born 1887-88 in Alabama. Her parents were William McClendon and Mary "Polly" Lucenda Aaron of Alabama. William's parents were John McClendon and Liza Straw. It is said that Liza was a Native American Cherokee. This family was from around the Walker Co, and Cullman Co area in Alabama. If anyone has any connection to this family, I would welcome any information. Sarah Lou married Ed Stone abt. 1904 in AL.

The tin types were popular as a way for the soldiers to take photos of their loved ones with them when they went off to war. Did this photo accompany this soldier I wonder.
