Chester E. Osborne(1904-1944) He is my mother's Father. He had 3 children by his first wife and 3 children by his second wife (Eunice Hand).

This is Obituary of Claud Hand. He was born 11/8/1903 to Mary Ida (Ida Mae) Cook and Samuel Luther Hand in Tallapoosa co. Ala. He grew up around New Site Sylacauga. Horsebend and Alexander City Ala. He had 2 brtohers Selvia and E.J. and a Sister Eunice Hand Osborne McClain. All lived in the Lanett area for many years. Claud worked in the Lanett Mill in the weave shop as teenager. He also sold Blair products and sold suits door to door during depression. schooling ended in 10th grade making a living was a challenge. He sold insur. for Metropolitan Ins. Co. but found his real talent was in "buy-sell-trade" business that he did for nearly 60 years.

This is either My Grandfather, Chester Osborne or his Dad. The name on the back says Chester Osborne. I don't know if his dad was Chester also, but it is a very aged photo.

front row left, Gail McClain (1/2 sis), Mariam Joan Osborne, second row left Martha Osborne. They also went by McClain. Their Mother, Eunice Mae Hand married Dewey Mcclain after Chester Osborne died.

I would like to know more about my Grandfather. His Parents names,any siblings etc.. I remember mom telling me that he had a tough childhood. On the streets alone at very young age I believe she said. I cannot find any record of him.

Chester E. Osborne was married to Jewel (?), They had 3 children, Austin, Mary and Calvin. Jewel died of double pnemonia. Chester then married Eunice Hand and they had 3 children, Tommy, Martha and Miriam Joan. When Chester died Eunice married Dewey McClain and the last two osborne girls took on his last name, McClain.
