This picture is of my father approximately 1942. He was obviously home on leave, although I can't identify the place it was taken. His name was Richard Arthur Corcoran. He served with the 82nd airborn during WWII. He was a right waist gunner on a flying fortress "The Squawking Hawk". After his 25 missions he returned to Mississippi where I was born. We returned to North Bennington after his tour of duty was over, Mom and Dad had 7 more children.

This was taken in front of our home under the big pine tree. Our parents bought the house in 1947 and Mom sold it in 1998.

Grandmother Muriel Shippee, on the left, lived in Nebraska and came to visit most summers to my Mom and Dad's home in North Bennington. I was just a kid and never realized that it was unusual for grams and gramps to live in different places.Gram and Gramp had raised their 3 daughters in Wilmington, Vermont. Gram's brother Raymond and his wife Dot came to visit from Wilmington, Vermont that day.(Grandmother and Uncle Ray were children of William Grayson & Ella Jane Johnson Shippee). That's my wonderful grampa Bian Albert Shippee on the right, son of William Edward and Eliza Wilson Shippee. He lived with us in North Bennington.

2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

Mom (Jackie), Dad (Richard),Mike and Anna in the back & Steve and Rick in the front. Pat in Mom's arms. There were 3 more kids to come later. Dad really didn't care to have his picture taken but I tend to think the reason he's not smiling is Mom's hair. She cut it with Aunt Jeanne Rodrigue's help and he was not happy. Her hair had been long and beautiful but too much to care for with 5 children.

Mom and Dad were married in 1942. This was taken at Granny Dorion's Gage Street home on the Division Street side of the house. Mom would have been 17 and Dad 22. He was a right waist gunner on a "flying fortress" bomber stationed in England. He did his 25 missions over Germany and France and was returned to Mississippi to finish his tour of duty. Mom met him there and they had me in 1945 at the Gulfport, Mississippi air base. When his tour was over they returned with me to North Bennington, Vermont where they lived for many years and had 7 more children.

Great Aunt Aget was sister to my grandmother Cecelia Dorion Corcoran. She was a dear lady who loved to play the piano and play cards. I visited her, her sister Mary (Aunt Mamie) and Mamie's daughter Cousin Agnes Jackson many times while growing up in the fifties and sixties. Parents of Aunt Aget, Aunt Mame, Gradmother Cecelia, Uncle Herb and Aunt Clara were Adelard Dorion and Adelia Javery.
