Chaffee homestead in Sheshequin, PA
This is our family homestead in the depression days. The farm had 40 acres and was purchased in the 1860's and sold in 2010. The Chaffee family of 10 were poor but proud. They worked the farm and churned butter and sold it in Towanda, PA. They had chickens, pigs, cows, and a horse. They raised crops and my Great Grampa Fred and Great Grama Marie were trained nurses. The barn went first and then the house fell down in the 1960's, by the looks of the roof in this picture, it figures.
Mary Mornilva Chaffee (1852 - 1933)
This is my Grandma Sarah Jane Chaffee Neal's Great Aunt Mary on her father's side. Her Grandmother Sarah Jane Chaffee's sister. She was born about 1852 and died about 1933. She married Edgar Loren Chaffee her cousin. Both buried in Rome, PA.

Chaffee homestead in Sheshequin, PA

My Great Grandpa Fred Fayette Chaffee, Sr.
This is my Grandma Sarah Jane Chaffee Neal's dad. He was a trained nurse (graduated from a nursing school in NY City). He met his first wife, Eva McHale, while they both studied nursing in NY City. They moved up to Ovid, NY and worked at Willard State Hospital. Eva died and their daughter Lillian died at 5, and he remarried my Great Grandma Marie Maude Daly and they had 10 kids, but only 8 lived to grow up. He died in 1941 and is buried in Hornbrook Cemetery, PA.
Eliza Esther Emmaline Humphrey Chaffee Page
This is my Great Great Great Grandmother Eliza Esther Emmaline Humphrey Chaffee Page. She is buried in Towner Cemetery near Rome, PA. She was born about 1822 in Pike, Pa. She married Hiland Danforth Chaffee in about 1842 in LeRaysville, Pa. He was from Bainbridge, NY. He died in 1867 and she remarried to Lewis Page who died in 1889. She had 6 kids that we know of, but only 3 lived to grow up.

John Galvin Daly
Great Great Grandfather John Galvin Daly was born about 1853 in NY. He was a coal miner then tannery worker in Blossburg, PA. When he retired he moved to Corning, NY where he died in 1920. He married Minnie Hyde, an Irish immigrant school teacher, in Blossburg, PA. They had 5 kids, 2 died as babies, and 3 lived to grow up. He and Minnie and the babies are buried in St. Andrew's Cemetary in Blossburg, Pa.
