Joseph C. Grisham married Elizabeth "Eliza" Jane Harville on 13 Feb 1860. He went by the name Joe.
Joseph married Nancy in 1820 & moved to Smith Co.,TN in 1826. He owned 200 acres (source: Carthage,TN Court House). part of Smith Co.,TN was given to form Putnam Co.,TN in 1844 & installed his land in Putnam Co.,TN, even though he never moved. [*Some ancestors say Joseph or his parents came from Ireland through Overton Co.,TN to Smith Co.,TN.] I have a one page genealogy for Joseph G. Grisham that is stamped chart 6A with these names & addresses written in at the top: Mrs. Carol J. Byrom, 2109 Skyline Dr.,Fort Worth, TX 76114, Sue Hawkins, 635 McCrory Creek, Nashville,TN 37214, Mrs. Robert McKinney, 424 Mercury Ave;, Lompoc, GA 93436 - it is presumed that they are the researchers. This chart was given to me by my father Kenneth H. Grisham. I have found my great grandfather's brother's great granddaughter & she had the same chart in her family history notebook. We don't know when it was put together. The chart also listed Joseph's sister-in-law as Sarah (King) with a blank for Joseph's brother's name (they had Matlida born 1846 in TN, Mariah born 1824 in TN, & Nancy Pryor who married Henderson Petty & had Martha "Patsy" Emmaline b.1851,Sarah Elizabeth b. 1852, Hinship Henderson b.1854, James Pryor b.1856, Silas Balaam b. 1858, & John Tapley b. 1863) Chart 6A also has a blank for Joseph G. Grisham's parents' names with a note about Jackson County, 2806 & his father's name possibly could have been a Wim. Prior. It said there was a William Pryor Grisham on the Jackson Co., TN Poll Tax list in 1806. As far as I know, no Grisham family researcher has found out who Joseph G.'s father was. Carol Byrom wrote a book Grisham Any Way You Spell It that said all Grishams (Grisham, Grishom, Gresham, Grissom) Smith County, TN were related.
