Alice Marie Douglas was born in Carlton, Minnesota and was a resident of Minnesota her entire life. She died in Two Harbors, Minnesota less than a month before she would have turned 82 years old.
According to her husband Ross's obituary, Olive and her family lived in Winona, Minnesota, from 1933 to 1944. According to the 1940 U.S. Census, Olive lived in Lewiston, Minnesota, in 1935. Lewiston was incorporated in 1873 and was the first stop on the Winona-Rochester stagecoach line - an important source of support for travelers (Wikipedia). In 1930 the town had a population of 656 (U.S. Census). Lewiston is 13.5 miles from Winona. According to the marriage announcement for Dolores Douglas and James O'Laughlin, which appeared in the Winona Daily News on Saturday, June 29, 1946, Olive and Ross Douglas were living in Phoenix, Arizona. It is not certain exactly when the move to Phoenix occurred but it was likely sometime in 1944 which is when Ross and Olive were no longer living in Winona, Minnesota. The census taker for the 1950 U.S. Census noted that Olive and Ross were living in Phoenix, Arizona. Their address was 325 N. 4th Avenue. Ross was working as a janitor/maintenance in the wholesale and retail auto parts industry and had worked 48 hours the previous week. None of Ross and Olive's children were living with them at the time although the census record shows a number of lodgers were living at their residence and that Olive was working as a rooming house proprietor. The number of hours she had worked in the week previous to the census were 40. Olive and Ross's daughter Delores died on January 25, 1962. Olive's husband, Ross Douglas, died on February 27, 1964, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, when he was 71 years old. He passed away at the Glen Lake Sanatorium located in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States of America. Glen Lake Sanatorium, a tuberculosis treatment center serving Hennepin County in Minnesota, opened on January 4, 1916. It is likely Olive and Ross had moved to Phoenix for the drier air to help with Ross's lung issues. Ross is buried at Witoka Cemetery in Wilson Township, Winona County, Minnesota, USA. Olive's son, Donald Russel Douglas (1916–1971), died on January 21, 1971 in Winona, Minnesota. Olive May (White) Douglas died on July 29, 1981, in Winona, Minnesota, when she was 86 years old. 1102 E. Sanborn St., Winona, Minnesota was her given address when she died. Olive died 17 years after her husband, Ross. She is buried at Witoka Cemetery in Wilson Township, Winona County, Minnesota, United States of America, alongside her husband. He was living in Carlton County, Minnesota, which is where Wrenshall is located, with his wife Olive and his two sons, Earl and Donald.
