Thomas “Tom” Laessle, 60, of Bainbridge, died on Tuesday evening, July 12, 2022, at The Pavillion at Piketon, Piketon. He was born in Chillicothe, on Tuesday, August 8, 1961, the son of Glen R. and Wilma I. Estep Laessle. He is survived by his father, Glen R. Laessle, one sister, Becky James, two brothers, Paul (Brenda) Dunn, John Laessle, one sister-in-law, Gail Laessle, numerous nieces and nephews, and his special life-long friend, David A. River. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma I. Laessle, one brother, Donald J. Laessle, and his special companion and pet beagle, Diggy Dog; who went everywhere with Tom. Tom was a 1979 graduate of Paint Valley High School. He had worked in Chicago where he installed fireproofing in many of the city’s high-rise buildings. A graveside service will be held at 1PM on Friday, July 15, 2022, in Twin Township Cemetery, Bourneville, with Pastor Lee Hamilton officiating. No visitation hours will be held. Donald James Laessle, 60, of South Salem, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at his home, following a brief illness. He was born on September 22, 1957, in Chillicothe, to Glen Reinhold and Wilma Irene (Estep) Laessle. In the fall of 1977, Don married his high school sweetheart, Gail Ann (Rossiter) Laessle, who survives. Also surviving is their daughter, Jennifer (DJ) Newman, of Chillicothe; three grandchildren, Eddie, Ollie, and Amelia; his four siblings, Paul (Brenda) Dunn, of Chillicothe, Tom Laessle, Rebecca James, and John Laessle, all of Bainbridge; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, and colleagues. Don retired from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in 2012 after 30 years of employment with the state of Ohio. He was extremely close with his colleagues and enjoyed spending time outside of work doing various activities together. In his free time, he enjoyed numerous outdoor activities including beekeeping, fishing, coon hunting, and gardening. He was also known for canning and baking. His favorite thing to do however was spending time with his two grandsons, Eddie and Ollie. They were truly the light of his life. He also loved spending time with his family, and had a very special and unique bond with his father Glen. They both enjoyed numerous hobbies together including beekeeping, and were also recreational pilots. In accordance with the wishes of the family, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services at this time.
