My father's family came to the US very early and settled in Maryland, and Indiana. Mother's family came to Canada from France in the 1600's, from Germany to Michigan in the 1850s, and another branch is English from ???

This is my great grandmother Minnie Edith Brown 1877-1914 who lived in Cleveland, OH and Detroit, MI. She was a teacher, an accomplished painter, a suffragette, and sued the Cleveland Normal School for the right to continue her education and won. She died too young from TB leaving a husband, Henry Fortain and two young daughters, Rhea and Doris.
