This is a photo taken about 1862. She looks to be about 14 years old to me.
The original photo had a crease in the upper right. In getting it ready to put on our family website, my husband, Chuck Nelson, was able to correct the crease.

William & Edward were the youngest sons of Jacob & Fredrika Wahl. They were born in Illinois in 1860 & 1862. The family owned a butcher shop in Bloomington and moved to Kansas in 1878. William drowned in 1884 in the Wamego River. Edward was a physician in Chicago from 1891 until his death in 1910.

May Margaret Wahl was my father's aunt. She was the daughter of Louis and Emma (Enfield) Wahl. May was born in Kansas, married John Whiting and farmed in northern Minnesota. May & John and their four children all perished in the Moose Lake Fire in Minnesota in 1918.

Resembles later photos of Emma. Both women are wearing the same brooch.
Margaret probably related to other Daughabaugh or Daughenbaugh family members from Wisconsin.
