John was born in Germany in 1834. He came to America around 1854. He served in the Civil War with an Illinois 12th regiment. He married Margaret Steinman and they lived on a farm near Maybee, Michigan. They had 3 sons: George, Jacob, and Anthony. Their daughters were Elizabeth, Catherine, Theresa, Anne, and Frances. He died in Maybee, Michigan and is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Maybee, Michigan.

Cain of Kentucky and beyond;
Pfluge of Michigan, Canada and beyond;
Blunt/Blount of Michigan and New York;
Richards of Vermont.
Also,trying to locate a photo of Patrick Henry Cain (1838 - 1914), John Franklin Cain (1845 - 1928) and William Jackson Cain (1835 - 1905) in their CSA Civil War uniforms. All three were brothers from Murray, Calloway County, Kentucky.
