Stephen J. Nickels, son of James, Jr & Fannie (Godsey) Nickels, born Oct. 14, 1839 Nickelsville, Scott Co., VA. Died Dec 27, 1912 in Wood (near Dungannon), Scott Co., VA He served with the 37th VA Infantry (CSA)during the Civil War and fought at Gettysburg,PA.Married Lucy Gray, dau. of Colonel Alexander Mcfarland and Harriet Mason Gray.
