David was born to a 13 year old in the Carlton Refuge, Victoria. Father unknown. He came to Western Australia and married Jessie Strang. They had four children. In 1934 he divorced Jessie and married Annie Isobel Cunningham, a divorcee from Scotland. There were no issue from the second marriage. David died in 1966.
David Cressie was my grandfather. He was born to a 13 year old girl named Rosamond Crease. He changed his name from Crease to Cressie and travelled from Victoria to Western Australia to live. He married Jessie Strang and they had four children. Around 1927 he deserted Jessie and began a friendship with another lady. Around 1934 he re-married and this time to Isabella Cunningham. Father of David is unknown.
Rosamond Crease was my Great Grandmother. At a young age she was made a ward of the state. At age 13 years and 2 months she fell pregnant. Due to this, she was placed in the Carlton Refuge for 'naughty girls' where she awaited the birth of my grandfather, David Crease. His birth certificate does not mention who the father is.
Patrick Thomas McMahon married my Great Grandmother, Mary Kate Josephine Hughes. He was involved in a bigamy trial because Mary Kate was already 'married' to a Alexander Salter Crease. It turns out that she wasn't actually married to Crease and Patrick's marriage to her was legal. When the two split, Patrick married an Ellen Makepeace, thus committing bigamy He and Ellen went to Western Australia where the two were involved in yet another court case, as Ellen wanted maintenance due to their separation.
