My father was full of Italian artistry, as was most of his family. He was a master mill worker, wood worker by trade, but he could play piano by ear, paint, draw, fix just about anything, as well as building an entire house --soup to nuts. (ie cement to water, septic, electric, you name it!) I did not inherit any of this. But I did inherit if it's worth doing, do it right, measure twice, cut once, and perfectionism, and better to work for yourself. Also 1/2 of the music genes I got from him. My father loved cats and dogs, nature and the woods, and was happy being an introvert- I got that too. His father's family were from Lucca, Italy, and his American born mother was from Scottish descent. He was a complicated man.
