He was a good & kind man, wonderful husband and father. He was a marine at camp Pendleton, in California, he served 3 yrs. He was a builder and finished carpenter which he learned from his father Max L Hull. He married Mary Lou Goodwill on 15 April, 1967, at the time she had a 4 yr old daughter from a previous marriage, her name, Lucille Ann, born 29 June, 1962. They had a son Richard Allen Hull born 03, Oct 1966. Richard's parents, Max and Margaret Hull were the 2 witnesses at their wedding performed at the Milwaukee Court house, they used to joke that it was a shotgun wedding, their 3rd child, Elizabeth Ellen Hull, born 22 Jan 1968. Max drove Mary Lou to the hospital in a blizzard to have her. Richard loved camping, hiking & fishing, he took his family during good weather almost every week in summer to pike lake or kettlemoraine state park camping & ice fishing on the Great lakes, skating and sledding in winter. We'd go Nutting in the autumn & dry the nuts for Christmas baking, he always knew the best spots. We went apple picking at the elegant farmer every year without fail. He'd take us swimming in summer to pike lake on Saturdays and to the outdoor drive in movies on Sundays after the TV show 60 minutes. He loved to read. He had gone to school through the 8th grade & learned to really read well by reading comic books & became an excellent reader, he loved fantasy, mystery, magic and other world books & series. In 1980s he went back to school at MATC & got his GED. He loved to watch cartoons and holiday shows like a Charlie brown Christmas with his children and did every year. He made the holidays special for his children and especially for his wife Mary Lou who had lost her mom at the age of 12 & was astranged from her father. Together they both made sure all holidays were decorated, fun and full of love. Richard was a quiet man, shy and yet could talk with a stranger as if they were a good friend and known each otherfor years, he was an excellent and patient teacher. He was a good cook who liked to try new recipes. He didn't like white cream sauces or most cheeses. He loved a good beef roast, homemade spaghetti , chili & casseroles. Mary Lou learned to cook a lot from his mother who was a very great cook. Richard was very family oriented, was big on spending time with family, immediate & extended. He loved his mom very much. We'd visit his parents multiple times a week as they lived not to far away. Later in life he developed emphysema, abt 1995, the top half of his lungs didn't work well, he was on oxygen for many years then in summer 2007 was diagnosed with lung cancer that metastasized to his brain & liver, he had some radiation therapy, then passed away 25 September 2007 at the VA hospital in Milwaukee with his wife Mary Lou, his daughter Elizabeth & son-in-law Marty by his side. He is buried at Union cemetery in Racine, WI, he was cremated. When his wife passed away on 24 September 2008 she was also cremated & her ashes put in the crypt with his ashes & a favorite picture of their eldest daughter Lu Ann (Lucille Ann) who had been murdered in 1983. I could not have asked for a better father, as long as he was alive in the world, everything would be ok, I'm proud to be his daughter.
