Robert "Bobby" F Talmadge Keaton was born on February 3rd, 1924, in Los Angeles, California, to comic actor Joseph Frank "Buster" Keaton (1895-1966), best known as "Buster Keaton", who was born in Kansas, and well-known silent film actress and producer Natalie Talmadge (1898-1969), who was born in New York state. Robert had an older brother, James Joseph Buster Keaton Jr (1922-2007). His mother's sisters, Norma and Constance Talmadge, were also well known actresses. Bobby's parents had a troubled marriage, described as "unhappy" and "arranged." They divorced in 1932 after 11 years and two sons. Natalie desired no more children and insisted on separate bedrooms, while Buster struggled with alcoholism. Robert "Bobby" Talmadge was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving during World War II. Robert T. Keaton married Esaleta Patricia "Pat" Marie McGough (1916-1991) in 1948 and they had two sons. Unlike the other famous members of his family, the only media appearance Robert made was in 1957 on the 'This is Your Life' television show where he honored his father's life and career. After Bobby's parents' contentious divorce, he and his brother dropped the surname "Keaton" and they thereafter used the surname Talmadge. They didn't have any contact with their father thereafter, except for Bobby's aforementioned appearance on "This is Your Life". Bobby Talmadge died on July 19th, 2009, in Del Mar, California, at the age of 85. He is buried in El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, San Diego County, California.
Natalie Talmadge
Natalie Talmadge was born on April 28th, 1896 in Brooklyn, New York to Margaret L. "Peg" Louise Brown (1864 - 1933) and Frederick "Fred" John Talmadge (1869 - 1925). Her father was born in Connecticut and her mother was born on Governor's Island, New York. She had two sisters, Norma (1894 - 1957) and Constance (1898 - 1973 who were both also actors. Natalie Talmadge was the first wife of actor Buster Keaton. and the sister of movie stars Norma and Constance Talmadge. She was also a silent screen star who retired in 1923. Her last film was "Our Hospitality" - Buster's film - in which her infant son played the baby. After having two sons, Buster Keaton Jr and Robert Talmadge Keaton, their marriage went downhill and they divorced after 11 years of marriage, in 1932. After their divorce, their two sons took her name, Talmadge, and dropped the surname Keaton. Talmadge insisted that their sons had nothing to do with Buster, their father. Natalie died on June 19th, 1969 in Santa Monica, California, at the age of 73. She is buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California.
Buster Keaton Jr
Buster Keaton Junior, born Joseph Talmadge Keaton on June 2nd, 1922 in Los Angeles, California, was the son of comic actor Joseph Frank "Buster" Keaton (1895-1966), best known as "Buster Keaton" and silent screen actress Natalie Talmadge (1898-1969). Buster Jr. had a younger brother, Robert Talmadge Keaton (1924-2009). His mother's sisters, Norma and Constance Talmadge, were also well known actresses. Buster Junior was a sometimes actor, like his parents. He acted in "Our Hospitality" (1923) - he played the infant, age one, in his father's movie - and "This Is Your Life" (1950). Buster Junior married Barbara Jane Tichenor (1943 - 2007) and they had four children: Michael, Mark, Melissa, and Jim Talmadge. Buster Jr.'s mother changed his last name, as well as his brother's, to Talmadge (from Keaton) after his parents divorced. After the divorce, she refused to have Buster Keaton's name mentioned in her presence. This lead to an estrangement between father Buster and his sons. When Buster Junior and his brother Robert Talmadge Keaton were teenagers, they swam in the Pacific Ocean with their next door neighbor, Johnny Weissmuller (who played "Tarzan.") Imagine having Tarzan as a swimming companion! See Buster Keaton Jr: Obituary.

This photographer was taking pictures of the construction of the Met Building in New York City. Before Buster Keaton filmed it, he was doing daredevil stunts!

He's on the 33rd floor, taking pictures of construction workers. Scary! Wish I knew his name.

Rosemary Louise Kopplin
Rosemary's father was Edwin Herman Kopplin (1896 - 1971) and her mother was Dorothea Simons (1898 - 1970). She had one (older) brother, Edwin Orlando Kopplin (1924 - 1998). In the 1930 federal census, the entire family lived in Litchfield MN (the town in which Rosemary was buried). Both Mom and Dad said that they had been born in Minnesota. Besides Mom, Dad, Rosemary and an older brother Edwin, Arlene Silverberg, then age 19, all lived together in the household. Her father Edwin was the proprietor of an "oil and automobile" company. Rosemary's mother, on bed rest during pregnancy, began collecting her favorite sayings that she could pass on to her children. She was quoted as saying "The task was to bridge the gap in education not filled in by church or schools. I wanted to leave a chart or blueprint for guiding and teaching such a way of life to my son and daughter." Those favorite sayings became the best selling book "Something To Live By” published in 1945. Rosemary was not expected to live through childbirth. Unfortunately, she passed away from leukemia just weeks before her sixth birthday. Read more of the story Rosemary Louise Kopplin: Personal Life
