My mom's side of the family is Swedish (and still lives in Sweden) and she instilled in me lots of Swedish heritage and traditions which has made me who I am today. My dad's side of the family is German and Irish and the most likely the side of the family I get all my freckles from. Family is so important, and welcome everyone to discover more about them, their history, and share about their loved ones who make up the history of who we are!

Jay Alvero Bekius was born on June 28, 1966, in Mille Lacs, Minnesota, USA, to parents Alvero Bekius and Elaine Marlene Kiel (1942-1993). He was one of five children, growing up in a close-knit family. His educational journey began at Pease Community Christian School, and he later attended Princeton High School. During his time there, Jay's exceptional skills and unwavering dedication in both basketball and football earned him the prestigious title of "all-conference" in both sports. He graduated from high school in 1985, setting the stage for his future endeavors. Following his high school graduation, Jay's love for farming deepened, leading him to join Leroy Koppendrayer's agricultural ventures. Prior to that, he briefly explored city life, trying his hand at construction and various other jobs. On April 4, 1992, Jay married Diane Kay Theisen in Mille Lacs, Minnesota, USA. However, their marriage ended in divorce just two years later on June 21, 1994. In 1994, Jay crossed paths with Donna Knutson, a remarkable woman who proved to be the perfect match for him, able to keep up with him and guide him with care. Recognizing that he had found a lasting love and a partner to share his dreams with, Jay embraced the role of father, friend, and role model to Donna's three children. In 1998, the family relocated to Milaca, and under Jay's guidance, the family farm underwent a remarkable transformation. Starting as a small calf and heifer operation, it soon expanded to include a thriving dairy that housed hundreds of cattle spread across two farms. In 2011, a significant change took place as they made the decision to sell the cows in order to pursue international expansion. The farm's focus shifted to custom feeding heifers for export to Turkey and Mexico, marking a new chapter in Jay's agricultural pursuits. With his unwavering passion for farming and the loving support of Donna and the children, Jay's dreams continued to flourish and grow.

2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!
