John M Sokol , Wyandotte , MI, Dec. 19th, 2022... I former Trumpet Student
This picture is of John M Sokol , a student of Walter,s for 12 years from the time I was 5 years old until I graduated from Mckees Rocks High School and until I entered The Marine Corps, and played 1st Trumpet in The United States Marine Band at Parris Island, Marine base. Walter was a very group friend and mentor to me and an excellent trumpet player and teacher. I was born and raised in Kennedy Twp. a suburb of Mckees Rocks. in the year 1939.... I am Now 84 years old and still playing the trumpet... I have had many good professional years playing and leading my own group named Serenity in Michigan....I just want to say that I miss and loved that man like a father, he helped me in many ways... this note is to for any of his living relatives...
