2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!

Vernon Victor Vistine was my (John H. Vistine) dad. He was born on August 9, 1923 in Waukomis, Oklahoma. He ended up living on a farm five miles south of Seiling, Oklahoma, at age 14, with his mother’s brother - Leo Hurt. His mother’s name was Mary (Hurt) Vistine and died in 1934. Vernon V. Vistine was drafted at age 18 in 1941. Vernon was a T5 corporal in the 275 Combat Engineers Battalion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Vernon lived in Lorenzo, Texas with his wife Jerelean M. Vistine until his sudden death on May 21, 1983. He did move to Paducah, Texas in 1978-1980, then moved to Woodward, Oklahoma in 1980, and then to Seiling, Oklahoma until 1983. He then returned to Lorenzo, Texas in September of 1983 and passed in May the same year. He had seven children.
