She taught P.E. in South Holland, graduated from Paramedic training in 1979, worked at South Works Steel in Chicago, and retired from the Chicago Fire Department as a paramedic.

Florence Olive (Simons) Tysse was born on October 19, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois United States. She was married to Clarence Tysse at Crown Point Court House in Crown Point, Lake County, Indiana, and they were together until Clarence's death in February 1977. She has children Nancy (Tysse) Gill, Ruth (Tysse) Herr, Florence (Tysse) Heintz, Clarence Tysse Jr, and Thomas Tysse. Florence Tysse died at St. Anthony Hospital in Saint John.
