I think this is in the late 1800's of our DEAN family business. Possibly a ferry business. The gentleman with his hand on his hip is William or his brother Hugh Dean. Most likely in Texarkana TX or across the state line in Ashdown AR.

Thomas & Rhoda Burns
There are a man and a woman
standing in the doorway of this train car. Upon closer examination, I recognized my gggrandmother, Rhoda Lovelady Burns, & the only photo I have of my gggrandfather Thomas Clarance Burns. The Gandy Dancers was a name given the train crews
who rode those little pump cars....I think to check the rails for repair. They were called dancers because of the way they looked pumping up and down, up and down.If you were to enlarge the photo of the train car, just in front of it is a crew of gentlemen. They are the gandy dancers!

Dean Oil field Livery and Transfer
Dean family business, possibly Arkansas or Texas.
Dean Oil field Livery and Transfer. Best guess is that it is taken in the 1880's.
Man with the hat is considered by me to be William H. Dean of Texarkana.
I call this pose - hand on hip - 'the DEAN stance.' I see it in many pictures.

William & Henry Dean
See the two fellows with their hands on their hips. That's the' DEAN stance'
once again...prevalent in so many photos. Far left, William Dean and then an unknown fellow ( a black man, perhaps a porter?) and then Henry Dean, William's son. My great great grandfather and great grandfather.

Nannie May Constant & Family
I believe this is Nannie May Constant who married Henry York in 1895. Seated with
their four children Roy Earl, Mable, Geraldine, and Wylie. The other three folks, I cannot name. They could be her parents - John Constant and Mrs. I don't know for sure. This photo must
be about 1905 or later but before 1911.
