Marjory was born to Ingle R. and Doris DeVoss Harris on May 17, 1923 in Sheridan, Indiana. She graduated from Sheridan High School and attended Indiana Business College. She successfully passed the Civil Service Exam and was hired by the U.S. War Department where she worked in the secretarial pool. Her office was located in the newly constructed Pentagon Building in Washington, D.C. There she met her future husband, Jack T. Fish.
