I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.

Born in Abruzzi, Italy, came over on the boat at the age of 16. I dont know much more other than she was a culinary expert. She made everything homemade.. spaghetti linguini, Sunday Dinners were amazing and the fragrance walking into her home on 24th street in Chester, is familiar when I have an opportunity to visit a high-end Italian restaurant.. It's also the same fragrance and scent I have experienced at a place called Car Mira's Deli in Boothwyn, PA .. traditional quality Italian recipes.. Conchetta.. (we called her Nooo nooo (neu neuh) I believe or was told is Italian for Grandmother. She was an incredible person and did everything to support her family including helping her husband, my mom's dad, my grandfather, whom I never got to meet as he died at an early age of an enlarged heart and heart related health conditions, who was a Tailor and had a business in the city of Chester, way back when Chester was prestigious and classy and clean. no grafitti or crimes back in those days.. Noo Nooo would help him with sewing garments for his customers, take care of all her children and was a dedicated provider and incredibly loving grandmom to me and all my cousins in the Moretti family. Always cared to ask me how my father's side of my family .. namely My Great Grandmom Leonora Elizabelth Galucia Brown (whom for some reason I guess because she was born in 1890 in Coudersport, PA) cannot be located in any ancestery/geneology searches.. but yes, Noo Noo.. knew how much Grandmom Brown meant to me and always would care to ask me how she was when I'd get to see her.. I remember that.. I remember the 'way' she said my name in her Italian / English accent. I love you Noo noo.. you are remembered fondly.

Aunt Zizzi.. Anna Barnabei was born in Italy, later arrived in the USA and settled in Chester, PA. She resided with her sister, Concetta Barnabei Moretti, who married my grandfather whom I never met named Gabriel. My mother recently passed away, and was the daughter to Concetta & Gabriel, Had a brother named Joseph who tragically passed away at 4 years old in a bicycle accident. In addition to Joseph, there was Albert, Mary & Josephine (who were twins), Gloria (my mother Born December 27th 1937, and Gabriel 'Duke" Moretti the youngest of the siblings. Aunt Zizz was precious. She taught me embroidery when I was only 11 years old. .. I was so thrilled to have time to be with her.. and she might not ever have known how much of an impression her spending time to teach me meant to me.. something I never forgot about growing up. and most specifically what was called the 'french' knot. I have fond memories of being called to help food shop for My wonderful Great Aunt Zizzi, when Aunt Mary & Aunt Josephine (my mom's twin sisters) were never licensed to drive. I'd go from store to store and as a younger young woman always wondered why they needed to go to one store for certain items and still another for other groceries.. How little I knew the reason until I too became a mom and had to provide for my two children. I understand the intelligent thinking, the ways they did things and the value of things.. Aunt Zizzi had her birthday one day before mine and that was something we both shared and always were mindful of.. I remember getting to visit her in her later years at Fair Acres Nursing Home.. and even as an elderly aged woman, she was still so very beautiful.. Beautiful blue eyes, and her laugh was adorable, something I'll never forget. I love you Aunt Zizzi .. I miss you, my mom, Aunt Mary, Aunt Jo, Uncle Albert & Uncle Duke. wow.. How I treasure all those memories growing up and getting to respect and appreciate my relatives. My father passed away at the age of 47 in the year 1987 my mom, Gloria, never remarried.. and now they are once again united. I miss them every day of my life. I am 4 years away from the age of 60.. I guess they are all there waiting for me to arrive.. and I hope when I do it's a peaceful transition into Heaven to be with Christ our Lord and Savior. I know that this is a fact.. if anyone reading this has doubts or skepticism you can rest assured, you need to go with the flow here.. it's real it's true and it's extremely just. I know things.. I 've been told I know things, but i knew and know things without people having to tell me.. As I tell you.. Your only way to Heaven .. the ONLY way to eternal life in Heaven is through knowing and accepting and believing in Jesus Christ. I love you Jesus. I thank you Jesus.. and I am grateful to you my Lord for all that you've gifted my life with in your blessing me.

2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!
