Beverly Hymas of Montpelier, Bear Lake County, Idaho United States. Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember Beverly Hymas.
He used to send me on my Pony Blue in the summer to go round up the milk cows that were way up in the field when it was time to milk around 5 pm every day. I didn't really like going when it was raining because I had 1 sometimes 2 electric fences to open on the way. When it was raining, the stick of wood that was used to close (latch) the gate was wet and would shock me. Almost every time when this would happen, I would jump, which made my horse jump from the shock of electricity also, except my horse would run all the way to the milk barn and she was hard to catch. When dad built the horse arena, she would run all the way down the highway to the arena holding her head to the side dragging her reins. Man I would yell, throw rocks and have a fit cuz i had to walk all the way down there, then catch her, then go back up and do it again. sometimes this would happen twice. Then my dad would say "you haven't got the cows yet" "You know what time it is!!. Later when I was older I found out that he used to get the binoculars and watch and just laugh and laugh while he was eating before I brought cows down. He finally told me this. He got a kick out of it. Then he asked me ."why didn't you just turn of the electric fence before you went up there?" I had never really thought about it, really, ever.... He said he could never figure out why I didn't turn it off. I was always so preoccupied with what I was going to imagine or what I could explore while the cows were walking down to the barn, cuz I couldn't run them. So I had never thought about turning it off, ever. He laughed over that and told that story to people for years and years. I loved that man. He was a very straight forward man! Terry Reed Hymas of Sharon, Idaho United States was born on May 18, 1942 in Montpelier, and died at age 72 years old on December 18, 2014 in Montpelier.
He is my wise, loving quiet father. He loved watching the show Mash with me (when I had moved away and was visiting). It came on after the news. he looked like Alan Alda (played HAWKEYE on the series). I loved to hear him laugh, that was my favorite part of my dad. I loved riding horses with him. He taught me how to be patient with them and taught me everything I know about horses. He was called by his clients he trained horses for "the Horse Whisperer" He did have a magic way with them. We went from a dairy farm to a cattle ranch about the time I graduated from H.S. He trained cutting horses and competed in ACHA with Quarter Horses. He won lots of buckles saddles and money. His clients adored him and trusted him because he didn't lie to them. He would know with in a week or so if their horse had what it took to win and he would tell them yes or no. Terry was very honest and expected everyone to be that way with him. He was quiet unless you could get him to talk about horses, then you were in. He even gave me one of his prize colts to help me train so that I could be in the high school rodeo class. However when I showed up to my event, no one else came from my school so I had to join Marsh Valley Idaho's school. One of my dad's clients lived there and his son was in the cutting also, so it turned out to be ok. I won and got to go to State and I won 1st place there. My dad was my hero. He became my dad when I was 5 - as my mom married Terry (Judy Passey Hymas). I loved living on the farm. I remember my dad hollering at me to come get lunch when I was about 10 or so. I was up outside the milk barn brushing my Pony, named Blue. I had forgotten that he had hollered about lunch and when I saw him coming through the gate and across the field- i knew I better run, I decided to go the way around him, but knew I better shut the gate (sheep were in the field) . I tried my fastest to shut it and loop the rope around it but it didnt matter. My dad (Terry) jumped the fence and that willow he had in his hand was catching my rear end every other step. I remember hearing him tell people that story for years. He would always say, "do you think you can outrun me? " I would have to say No, cuz he could always catch me and I was fast, but he had long legs...... He loved to hear my imagination stories. I was always the indian (with braids) and I would go up to get milk cows and ride Blue bareback. Photo of Terry Hymas Terry Hymas

Katherine M Hymas of - highway 89, in Bear Lake County, Idaho USA was born on January 9, 1915, and died at age 86 years old on June 13, 2001.
He was my (step) grandfather. He taught me alot about the sheep he raised, sheering, washing (every spring) and tending to the baby lambs. He had a great sense of humor and loved me and my brother as his own grandkids. He loved nature and like to sit and tell my little brother and myself stories. He was very kind and gentle and I loved him dearly. I always felt bad because he went to the hospital because he was trying to get my snowmachine unstuck in the snow up by the milk cow barn. he got it unstuck and when he hit the throttle, it threw him back and he grabbed for the handles, which hit the accelerator and he fell about 12 feet (snow was much higher back then ) and landed on the highway. we ran to stop traffic and to try and get him off the highway so cars would not hit him as it was a part of the highway that oncoming cars would not have seen him. He went to the hospital and we were so excited the day he was coming home, we had cookies made etc. Then we got the call that he wasnt coming home. I always felt like it was somehow my fault, for him helping me. After the funeral I had a dream about him. I tried to tell grandma, but she always seemed so mad at everyone. (even before he died). He said that was all in his contract and to not be sad, to be happy. I never told anyone this, as everyone seemed too sad to talk to when people died. I knew I would miss him, but his laugh told me he was happy. His son, Terry Reed Hymas, was my step dad, (but I never called him or looked at him like that). I love you grandpa!
