Darleen was born on January 17, 1932 to the late John and Mary Blake in Dennison, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, John J. Pershing, and her siblings, Robert Blake, Maxine McMath, and Betty Pete
rs. Darleen is survived by her four children: Sharon (George) Pallas, Marsha (Lloyd) Ross, Jack (Sandy) Pershing, and Doug (Michele) Pershing. She also leaves behind 8 cherished grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Darleen graduated from Dennison High School in 1950. In 1952, after marrying John, they moved to Columbus, Ohio, where they began their family. Darleen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, dedicating herself to caring for her loved ones and others. Her home became the heart of family gatherings, where she expertly hosted countless holiday celebrations. They lived in Lincoln Village North for over 65 years.
Darleen and John were founding members of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln Village, faithfully attending for 65 years. She actively participated in church activities, particularly enjoying her work with children in Sunday school and vacation bible school.
Known for her loving and gentle nature, Darleen found immense joy in nurturing children, whether cuddling a newborn or having a child on her lap. She took great pride in her family and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Her memory will be treasured dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

John Joseph Pershing, 92, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on November 19, 2022.
John was born on August 19, 1930, to the late Ray and Ethel Pershing in Dennison, Ohio. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife, Darleen, and his four children: Sharon (George) Pallas, Marsha (Lloyd) Ross, Jack (Sandy) Pershing and Doug (Michele) Pershing. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Gordon and William Pershing.
John graduated from Dennison High School and attended Ohio State University. He proudly served in the US Army Reserves for 15 years. John was a relative of and named after the famous U.S. Army General, John Joseph Pershing, and proudly kept written letters he received from the General. After marrying Darleen (Blake), they moved to Columbus, Ohio and started a family. He owned and operated Pershing Insurance, an agency for Nationwide Insurance, for over 30 years. Following that, he worked for Unfinished Wood Furniture stores before retiring. John and Darleen have been members of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln Village for 65 years.
John loved photography, especially taking pictures and video of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting activities, school and church events, and all holidays. John was a big Buckeye fan. He enjoyed golfing and breakfast club with his good buddies. He was active in community groups and was one of the original homeowners of Lincoln Village North.
John and Darleen celebrated 70 years of marriage this year. He was a loving husband and a wonderful Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.

Mary (Dauterman) Blake of Dennison, Tuscarawas County, Ohio was born on August 20, 1898 to Jacob Dauterman. She was in a relationship with John Deloss Blake, and had a child Darleen Lorraine (Blake) Pershing. Mary Blake died at age 80 years old in February 1979.
