I am Nancy Smenos Noga on the left with my friend Judie. My parents were Florence and Russell Smenos. I was born in Evergreen Park Illinois in 1952 and I have three children and eight grandchildren. I am a widow since 2020 and live in Lemont, Illinois.

Russell Lewis Smenos of 10141 So. Bell Ave., in Chicago, Illinois United States was born on May 23, 1918 in Chicago to Louise Smenos. He had a brother Robert James Smenos. Russell Smenos died at age 82 years old on June 1, 2000 in Chicago, Cook County.
My Dad was a very private, handsome, kind person. He worked very hard at two jobs his whole married life to support our family. He was very religious and proud to have become a Catholic. He played the violin and loved classical and contemporary music of the time. He loved and admired our family and was very proud of his grandchildren. He enjoyed working outside and keeping our home looking beautiful. He was most proud of our car and enjoyed taking long rides in the country on weekends. He and I used to take long walks in the summer and sometimes stop for a coke or frozen yogurt. He worked downtown Chicago for many years and on occasion we would stop by his office or enjoy the lakefront on his day off in the summer time. He always seemed to be amazed at the new big buildings going up and the new cars on the streets. He was humble and as he grew older his impatience with us left him and we suffered watching him grow weak with Parkinson's disease. He was the bravest person I knew and will always be my special angel.

Every summer when I was a child, usually in August, Grandma would come visit our house for two weeks and my Aunt Anne and Uncle Bob's house for the other two weeks. We would have a big dinner and invite the whole family from my mothers side too. Then we'd do the same at Uncle Bob's and have a big dinner and invite the whole side of Aunt Anne's family at their place. It was alot of work but fun none the less.
