Enoch & Rachel Hill
Enoch Hill and Rachel Jane Kimberling, thought to have been taken about 1870.
At the age of sixteen, Enoch lied about his age and along with his brother, Elijah, they enlisted in the Union Army, Company "K" 13th West Virginia Volunteer Infantry, during the Civil War.
At the close of the war he returned home and entered the ministry of the United Brethren Church. He married Rachel Jane Kimberling of Union Township, Mason County, West Virginia.
In 1876 they moved to Kansas where he continued in the ministry.
Rachel Jane Kimberling, was the sixth child and fifth daughter of Mariam (Craig) Kimberling and Joseph Nathaniel Kimberling. She was born January 7, 1848, probably in Union Township, Mason County, West Virginia. Nothing is recorded of her young childhood. She was one of twelve children.
Rachel and Enoch had nine children, only three lived to adulthood, Odus Grant Hill, (my grandfather), Ova Mae Hill, and Carl Enoch Hill.
