Robert Gabriel Mateyko of 512 157th st, in calumet city, cook County, Illinois us was born on October 1, 1914 in Chicago, and died at age 64 years old on November 5, 1978 in Hammond, Lake County, IN. Robert Mateyko was buried circa November 8, 1978 at St. Mary's Cemetary 169th Street and Kennedy Ave, in Highland.

Photo of the first band at Lincoln School, 1955. This photo appeared in the Hammond Times circa May 20, 1955. Band Director, Mrs. Edith Johnson did a great job getting us ready for the concert. Bob Gault and Dave Shenider appear on clarinet, Luane Browe and Lorraine Landsverk on flute, Joe "Bud" Riley and Bill Steenis on drums and Rich Mateyko is on sousaphone. Rather, the sousaphone is on Rich Mateyko

Richard E. Mateyko as Santa Claus: This photo was taken in Calumet City, Il in the early 1950's when I was a student at Lincoln School, which is the elementary school across the street from where we lived. I know that my mother, Madge (Berilla) Mateyko made this costume. It must have been for a school play.

TubaChristmas in Chicago, IL at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel. Harvey Phillips conceived of the idea of TubaChristmas to pay homage to his teacher and mentor, Bill Bell. TubaChristmas concerts are now an international event and feature traditional Chirstmas music performed by valved low brass instruments.
