I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.

My mother was the most selfless, loving, caring mom anyone could ever want or ask for! I was her baby and could never do anything wrong, no matter what. I love and miss that woman more than anyone could ever know. She was a Saint! She put up with so much BS outta me while I was drinking and I wish she could see the person that I've become since putting down the bottle for good! She was so fun to be around and there was no one in this world that I would have rather been arrested with. One night I got into an argument with our idiot neighbor and got into a fight and the a****** hit me first on our property and when the police showed up they arrested me for assault and my mother stood up for me to let them know that he started it. My mother put her hand on the officer to get her attention and the cop arrested her for assaulting a police officer...lol.. It was one of the craziest nights of my life, going to jail with mom! She never even smoked a cigarette or could hurt a fly, let alone assault a cop..lmao. Needless to say my father was pretty surprised having to come bail my mother and myself outta jail when he got home from golfing. But that is the kinda woman she was. In a neck brace from having major spine surgery she's out in the yard making sure her baby didn't get in trouble and gets herself arrested and goes to jail with me. I will never ever stop missing her until the day I die and hopefully get to see her again! She missed her mom so very much and cried all the time up until the night she passed, so I hope she got to be with her mother, cuz if she can't be here for me anymore I want her to be with the person that meant as much to her as much as she meant to me... I love you mommy and can't wait to see you again, but no too,too soon..lol.. your baby boy Ryan.... RIP Photo of Cheryl Lacko Cheryl Lacko

2020 marks 20 years since the inception of AncientFaces. We are the same team who began this community so long ago. Over the years it feels, at least to us, that our family has expanded to include so many. Thank you!
