Family, friend, or fan, this family history biography is for you to remember Marilyn (Ford) Preston.

Jack Preston was born on April 7, 1935 in Pasadena to parents Chauncey Preston and Lillie (Lilves) Preston. He had siblings Ronald E. Preston, Richard Reed "Dick" Preston, Chauncey Albert Preston Jr, Florence Vivian (Preston) Crane-Baugher, and Pauline Hamt.
In 1953 Jack joined the United States Marine Corps where he was a rifle instructor. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and attained the rank of Corporal. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and then trained at the F.B.I. Academy in Quantico, Virginia to the Chemical Agent school in Stockton, California.
Jack then began working for the City of Pasadena as a Firearms Instructor in 1962 and became the Senior Police Analyst in charge of the police range in 1977. He was P.O.S.T. certified to teach courses in chemical agents, officer survival, and firearms. In his spare time, he taught at Pasadena City College, where he developed the Mace/Self Defense course for civilians and directed annual range master seminars. These seminars fostered ongoing information exchange between police departments, focusing on new training techniques and reviewing police shootings to evaluate effectiveness. He was married twice. Jack's first partner was Marilyn (Ford) Preston, and they had a child Cheyenne Preston. His second partner was Violet (Ours) Preston. They married on November 21, 1961 in Los Angeles and they had a child Jack Preston Jr.
