Aynsley Stuart Forbes of Vailima Road, in Apia, Tuamasaga Samoa was born on January 17, 1920 at At home in Blaydon, Tyne and Wear County, England United Kingdom to George Forbes and Sarah Burrows. He had siblings Ross (Roy) Forbes and Doreen Forbes. He was in a relationship with Sylvia Alison Anscombe Brown, and had children Aynsley Carey Forbes, Glenn Stuart Anscombe Forbes, and Lyndsay Antonia Alison Forbes. Aynsley Forbes died at age 54 years old on January 31, 1974 at Tafuna in Pago Pago, Ma'Oputasi County, Eastern American Samoa, and was buried on February 21, 1974 at Omaka Cemetary in Blenheim, Marlborough District County, Marlborough New Zealand.
