Great Grand Mother Julia
This was my maternal great grandmother, Julia Rueg Rachal. She was the wife of Francois Xavier Rachal, aka. Frank Rachal. She was born on Cane River, and was the mother of 14 children, 11 who lived into late adult life. She was an excellent seamstress and after moving to New Orleans in the early 20's, was a member of the Chez Amis Lady's Social Club.

This is the oldest son of Francois and Julia Rachal. He was one of a set of twins. His twin sister, Frances, died shortly after birth. He was called many names: Frank, Buck, Papan, Pampie. He was married to Lorenza Metoyer and they didn't have any children.

This is a photo of my maternal grandmother. She was the twin daughter of Francois and Julia Rachal. She was born in 1904 in Cane River, Louisiana. She married Irvin A. Ashley of Pass Christian, Mississippi. They had one daughter who is my mother.
Dr. Hurve J. Rachal
This is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Fancois X. Rachal. The family had moved to New Orleans in 1922, and this photo was taken in the early 1950's. Dr. Rachal was an alumnus of Xavier University, and did his post graduate work and medical studies at Howard and Catholic University in the East. He was an professor for a time at Xavier University in New Orleans, and went on to serve in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the youngest of 14 children. Dr. Rachal had busy practice in New Jersey and was on the staff at Pomona State Hospital in California. He had one daughter and 3 grand children.
