Professionally he was always ELMER WILLIAM IMMERMANN, M.D. He was a brilliant Orthopaedic Surgeon, practicing in Chicago, Illinois but mainly in Highland Park, Illinois He loved children. Worked through the Polio Epdemic, was in the Army as Captain. He was beloved by many. He died of severe coronary artery disease, likely needing a bypass surgery while this procedure was not yet in practice. His first heart attack was at age 42. He died at age 54 most tragically. I worked for him in his office while I was in high school and college, almost 5 years.
