Christina Lynn McKinney was born to Ernest Luke and Barbara Ann McKinney in Ohio, and was their only child. Her father Ernest died in 1973 when Christina was only 3 years old.
She was described by most that knew her as 'a quiet little girl' who kept mostly to herself, had a few close friends, and did very well in school.
Christina attended the Otis School elementary school, and was a 7th grader in Fremont Junior High School when she was tragically murdered at home in their Polish dominated "Prairie" area of Sandusky Township.
See Girl found slain in home for details about Christina's death. Unfortunately, the murderer was never caught, although they had detained one individual for five days. Investigators never had enough evidence to convict. See Christina McKinney Slaying. The individual who investigators thought might had committed the crime later died according to a brief blurb in The News-Messenger on Saturday July 18th 2009.
