Leonhard and Barbara "Babette" (Ullman) Schratt with their children, Ada and Kunigunde. This photo was taken in Oberammergau, Germany (while they were still living in their Ammerburg Castle built by Leonhard) before they came to the United States (Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio). Their children that lived to adulthood were Ada, Frank, Ernest, and Cecelia. Leonhard and Babette were Catholic and there is church records of their childrens' baptism records in Germany.
This photo was shared with the family by Linda (daughter of Cecelia), who is another descendant of Leonhard and Babette Schratt.

Ammerburg Castle built by Schratt
Ammerburg Castle home in Oberammergau, Germany was built by Leonhard Schratt in the 1890's and he lived in it with his family until they left to the United States of America in the early 1900's. They later lived in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio U.S.A.
Leonhard married Barbara "Babette" Ullman in Germany. Leonhard was born in 1869 in Germany and died in 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio U.S.A. The family was Catholic and Babette played as 'Mary' in a Passion Play in Oberammergau when she was a young woman. Leonhard and Babette had 7 children but only 4 lived to adulthood. Their children's names that lived to adulthood were Eldetraud "Ada" (born in 1899), Frank (born in 1904), Ernest (born in 1907), and Cecelia (born in 1911). Ada was the only child that lived to adulthood that was born in the castle. Ada was born premature and her parents had to keep her warm on the stove in the castle.
The castle has the color of yellow in more recent color photographs but a family member said that the stones on the castle also has a pinkish color to it.
