I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth.
So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her.

My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.

Private Clifford Andrew, of the Manchester Regiment, and youngest and only surviving son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew, Victoria Avenue, Formerly of Church Street, Middleton, died whilst his regiment was on the march.
A chaplain writing from France to the parents said. "At the time of his death they were resting at a village near where my Brigade is at present. I was called to minister the last sacred rites of a Christian burial, and I buried him under the shadow of the church, within 5 yards of the west end of the church, just buy a tree.
He was buried with military honours and was wrapped in a Union Jack, to uphold the honour of which he had laid down his life.
The Lieutenant who was in command of the burial party spoke so well of your boy, and said he simply would not go sick - he would stick it out. The day before when marching, an officer noticed he looked bad, and so put him on his own horse, marching himself.
In the evening he was better, but early on the 18th, he died suddenly in a farmhouse near the church, where he was billeted. They think it was heart failure. I am a stranger to you, and most sorry that I have to convey such sad news."
