John Edward Smith - Titanic Captain
The captain of the Titanic, John Edward Smith, born January 27th, 1850, and died April 15th 1912 at the sinking of the RMS Titanic.
As with much of the story surrounding the RMS Titanic, there are various opinions about Titanic's captain. Some say that John Edward Smith was a hero who stayed on the bridge until the last moment radioing for help. Others say, that regardless of what he did or did not do, as captain of the RMS Titanic all of the various failures (ship's speed, leaving dock without enough life boats, not filling up the life boats to full capacity, and etc.) were ultimately his responsibility.
