James Cunningham was in the 4th Canadian Division of the Army. He fought at Vimi Ridge. This is a postcard he sent home to Canada. James married Mary A Kerr of N. Ireland who came to Canada as a home child in 1901. Mary's sister's name is Margaret (Maggie) Jane Kerr (Davis).
This is a 1898 photo, Eliza Davis (nee Preston) is on the bottom left corner. I believe that it is a photo of women in a workhouse in Worcester, but I have not confirmed that yet. Eliza's age was about 45 years at the time of the photo. 1898 was one year before her son William was sent to Canada as a Home Child. Eliza's husband John Davis had died 8 years prior and the children were being cared for by her mother-in-law, Hanna Davis (EWINS). Eliza and John had 4 boys, Alfred, George, William and James. One girl died as a baby.
James Davis was born in Claines co. Worcester in 1888. I don't know his wife's name. They had a son Harry Preston Davis. I think James went to India and was some type of merchant.
James' mother's name was Eliza Preston and father was John Davis. Eliza was born in Tibberton, Worcester(1853). John was born in Dormston and died in Claines(1856-1890). James' siblings were William, Alfred and George.
Harry Preston Davis is the son of James Davis. James was born in Claines Worcester, England In 1888 to Eliza Preston and John Davis. I think James and his family went to India and that James was some type of merchant. Look for a photo of James and his wife.
