Group in Worcester England
This is a 1898 photo, Eliza Davis (nee Preston) is on the bottom left corner. I have now confirmed, thanks to the university of Toronto, that this is a photo of women at the Clains Church in Worcestershire. They are a group of women whose husbands have died. It is a support group. Eliza's age was about 45 years at the time of the photo. For a small town, that's a lot of widowed women. 1898 was one year before her son William was sent to Canada as a Home Child. Eliza's husband John Davis had died 8 years prior and the children were being cared for by her mother-in-law, Hanna Davis (EWINS). Eliza and John had 5 boys, Alfred, George, William, James and little Herbert who was born just 2 months before his father died. In the 1911 census Eliza notes she has two children who have died. One girl died as a baby. Herbert must have died before 1911.

Unknown female
A photo of an unknown female found in a box at my grandmother's house with other family photos, unsure of who she is. Would love to know if anyone out there knows who she is. Plympton, Olson, Kerr, Ottier, East, Heublein - some of the possibilities.

Harry Preston Davis (Davies)
I think that Harry Preston Davis is the son of James Davis, who is my great Uncle. James was born in Claines Worcester, England In 1888 to Eliza Preston and John Davis. I think James and his family went to India and that James was some type of merchant. Look for a photo of James and his wife in my profile.
What ever happened to Harry? Was he born in England or in India? Did he stay in India? Did he have a family. He would be my father's cousin.

James Davis and Wife
James Davis was born in Claines co. Worcester in 1888. Hi wife is Edith Annie Green. They had a son Harry Preston Davis (at lease we have a photo of Harry that says Uncle Jim's son on the back) I think James went to India and was some type of merchant.
James' mother's name was Eliza Preston and father was John Davis. Eliza was born in Tibberton, Worcester(1853). John was born in Dormston and died in Claines (1856-1890). James' siblings were William, Alfred and George.
