He had a brother James Robert Simons. He married Eliza Jane Birtherisel in 1863, and had children James Simons, Harriet Lavinia Simons, Sarah (Simons) Lindorff, Jane Maria Simons, William George Simons, Ellen Simons Wheelhouse, Charles Thomas Simons, and Susan Henderson Simons. Charles Simons died at age 81 years old on May 13, 1919 in Inglewood, VIC.
