He had siblings Violet Ethel Leishman, Richard Andrew Leishman, Margaret Marjorie Leishman, James Alexander Leishman, Walter Ross Leishman, and William John Leishman. He married Ellen Catherine Mackenzie in 1931, and had a child Ian Thomas Leishman. David Leishman died at age 79 years old on October 29, 1984 in Colac, Colac Otway Shire County.
