He had siblings Violet Ethel Leishman, Richard Andrew Leishman, Margaret Marjorie Leishman, James Alexander Leishman, David Robert Leishman, and William John Leishman. Walter Leishman married Grace Isabel Overson in 1926, and died at age 83 years old in 1990 in Yarraville, City of Maribyrnong County.
