Dr. James Alexander David Nish 1875 - 1955

James Alexander David Nish of Essendon, Moonee Valley City County, VIC Australia was born in 1875 in Bendigo, Greater Bendigo City County to Rev. James Nish and Margaret (Young) Nish. He had siblings Samuel George Nish, Augusta Elizabeth Nish, Mary Henderson (Nish) Mackay, John Henderson Young Nish, and Janet Henderson (Nish) Thom. He married Vans Victoria (Thwaites) Nish, and they were married until death separated them. He had children Dr. John Noel Nish, Margaret (Nish) Foster, and James Ian Nish. James Nish died at age 79 years old on April 30, 1955 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Coburg,, in Moreland County, and was buried at Ashes Scattered, Fawkner Memorial Park, in Hadfield, Merri-Bek City County.

Dr. Nish, of Bendigo, and Vans Victoria, youngest daughter of the late Mr. James Thwaites, Tatonga Station, Tallangatta, took place at Mount view, Mansfield, residence of Dr. and Mrs. Johnstone Thwaites, on March 29.

In central Texas, a German-American mob broke into a jail with a battering ram and lynched two suspected cattle rustlers. Thus began a year of vigilante "justice."

In 1924, by the time he was 49 years old, J. Edgar Hoover, at the age of 29, was appointed the sixth director of the Bureau of Investigation by Calvin Coolidge (which later became the Federal Bureau of Investigation). The Bureau had approximately 650 employees, including 441 Special Agents. A former employee of the Justice Department, Hoover accepted his new position on the proviso that the bureau was to be completely divorced from politics and that the director report only to the attorney general.
