Dr Thomas Going (variants Goans, Goeng, Gowin, Guin), the son of Aggy and Moses Sr, married Claiborne MS 10 Feb 1820 to Sarah "Sally" Allen, a widow with two daughters. It's believed that she and the children predeceased him in the outbreak of Yellow Fever that he is believed to have succumbed to in 1840. He began medical practice in Wilkes GA and soon after that he was emancipated by an act of the GA State Legislature 18 Feb 1799 attested by Governor James Jackson. He then migrated to Claiborne MS by 1811 to continue his practice as a physician, later joined by his paternal uncle Samuel Going. It was noted that this "Indian" doctor was much preferred by patients as he did not use blood-letting and other "murderous" practices on the people he treated. In 1838 the MS Legislature decided "to authorize Thomas Going to erect and keep a toll bridge over the south fork of the Bayou Pierre at Port Gibson".
