She had siblings Sarah Jane (Turner) Morris, Mileta Alice Maud Turner, Clara Elizabeth (Turner) Geoghegan, Claude Frederick Turner, Victoria Adelaide Turner, James Smith Turner, Francis Alfred Jasper Turner, William Edwin Henry Turner, Victor Stanley Turner, and George Edward Turner. She married Herbert John Hansen in 1907, and had children Herbert Britten James Hansen, Norman Halley Hansen, Mena Lorraine Hansen, and Claudia Dorothy Verdun Hansen. Florence Hansen died at age 96 years old in February 1979 in Seymour, Mitchell Shire County.

The Act also banned "bigamous" relationships and "unlawful cohabitation", making it illegal for polygamists and those who simply lived together without marrying to vote, be on a jury, or hold a public office.

In 1902, by the time she was 20 years old, about 150 thousand United Mine Workers went on strike in eastern Pennsylvania for a wage increase and more suitable hours. They eventually got a 10% raise and their workday was reduced from 10 hours to 9. Because winter was coming and most people at the time heated their homes with coal, President Teddy Roosevelt arbitrated between the owners and the workers - the first time that the Federal government arbitrated in a strike.
