Louisa Ann (Martin) Lefoe was born in 1854 to Levi Lefoe and Jane Martin, and had siblings John Henry Lefoe, Fredrick Martin Lefoe, Author William Lefoe, Frances Jane Lefoe, Alfred Earnest Lefoe, Thomas James Lefoe, William Henry Lefoe, Joseph Edgar Lefoe, and Charles Nicol Lefoe. Louisa Lefoe died at age 72 years old in 1926.

In 1854, in the year that Louisa Ann Martin Lefoe was born, on May 30th, the Kansas–Nebraska Act became law. The act created both the Kansas Territory and the Nebraska Territory, which would determine for themselves if they would be pro-slavery or free. Both territories allowed slavery but it caused contention within the territories.
Did you know?
In 1884, when she was 30 years old, on December 6th, the Washington Monument was completed. Building began in 1848 but was stopped because of lack of funds and also due to the Civil War. It would be dedicated in 1885. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest structure in the world.
